10 Indoor Workouts to Try
10 Indoor Workouts to Try
Spring is here, well it is supposed to be. Colorado apparently has not received the memo because it is May and the weather just is not cooperating. Snowflakes are still showing up in the forecast. So instead of sharing my favorite outdoor workouts , I am going to stay inside a little while longer and still get my fitness ON!
Here are 10 activities you can do indoors and still maintain your fitness routine:
Crossfit – yup, love it or hate it, call it a cult, but can’t say it is not an awesome workout. Luckily, “boxes” as they are called are heated and cooled in Denver so bad weather is no concern unless running is involved.
Spinning/Indoor Cycling – If you are lucky enough to have a Peloton in your house, you can take classes at any time of day or night. The live classes are fun too because you can challenge yourself with the leaderboard. But there are a ton of cycling studios which you can do the same. My favorite one in Denver is CycleBar.
Orangetheory – A little running, a little rowing, and some weights - this workout never disappoints. The goal is to spend 12 minutes or more in the “orange zone” which is approximately 84-91% of your max heart rate. You do not need a heart rate monitor to try out the class but the studio will offer to rent one in case you are interested.
Bootcamp - Fit 45 locations are popping up and so I had to try. You work at different stations and move around the studio quickly. Every day is a different workout, maybe kettlebells, mountain climbers, biking, who knows but you don’t have to think, you just go, go, go!
Pilates - Excellent class for strengthening your core. The reformer contraception adds a whole new level to the workout and you’ll find muscles you never knew you had.
Lagree Class - Combines a little bit of everything - core, balance, flexibility - low impact on your joints but no doubt you will be sweating.
Versa Climbing Class - I have done the stairmaster at the gym before, difficult but not too bad….. meet the Versa climber…. arms and legs moving at the same time. It is a 30 minute class that will leave you drenched in sweat asking what the hell just happened??! If you are in the Denver area, Transform Colorado has a ton of these classes on the schedule.
Dance - Turn on some music and just dance - I am always surprised how quickly my heartrate rises just dancing.
Kickboxing - I am no fighter, but throwing a few punches or 500 makes the muscles burn.
Rowing - Thought this would be pretty boring…. 45 minutes of just rowing, but I was surprised how quickly the time passed. I did the “Power” class and we focused on intervals. Also, learned a bit about rowing form and where your power comes from - it’s not your arms!
